Foxconn Production Base in India to Ship iPhone 14 Simultaneously With China

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, tweeted on August 5 that according to his latest survey, Foxconn’s iPhone production site in India will ship the new iPhone 14 this year almost simultaneously with China for the first time.

Foxconn is a technology manufacturing service enterprise and one of Apple’s main production partners. The firm is centered on the Chinese mainland and has at least two manufacturing bases in Asia, America and Europe.

Kuo said that in the past, the cycle of Indian production bases lagged behind that of China by at least a quarter. In the short term, India’s iPhone capacities or shipments still have a considerable gap with China, but it’s an important milestone for Apple in building a non-Chinese iPhone production site.

Kuo previously issued posts saying that Apple’s supply chain management in the past mainly focused on quality and cost, but in order to cope with the complexity and uncertainty of supply chains, Apple will increasingly take measures to do business with more Chinese suppliers and establish more non-Chinese production bases.

Kuo also mentioned in July that in order to avoid potential supply chain shortages when equipment starts mass production, Apple added a supplier to the iPhone 14/Pro series, namely SG Micro Corp (SGMICRO), and it is expected that it will ship the power management IC of iPhone 14 in the second half of the year.

Recently, the price of the iPhone 14 has also been exposed. The starting price will be 5,999 yuan ($887) – consistent with the previous generation – while the iPhone 14 Pro will cost 7,999 yuan. Before the launch of the iPhone 14, Apple’s official website in China had already launched a limited-time discount for all iPhone 13 products and others.
